Abstract: The paper considers the main problems raised in the reports contributed to the International Scientific Conference «Russian Speech Culture and a Text», that was convened to discuss the ways of developing the theoretical and applied aspects of communication realized via textual activity. The authors of the paper review the investigations elucidating the modern state of Russian speech culture, new tendencies in text research, peculiarities of the Russian picture of the world reflected in the textual activity, main characteristics of different discursive practices in communicative-cognitive and stylistic aspects, and methods of teaching Russian speech culture to school children and students.
