Process for submitting a research paper to the Editorial Board of the journal

In order for your paper to be accepted for consideration, the first step is electronic registration. To complete registration, the following documentation submitted in Microsoft Windows Word or PDF format must be sent in electronic format to the Editorial Board:

  • Your paper «Surname, Paper title»,
  • the file with additional information «Surname, About the author»
  • and the signed and scanned text of the author’s consent to the use of their data with the attested signature «Surname Consent» (postgraduates must also include the supervisor’s signed and scanned recommendation letter «Surname (of the postgraduate’s) Recommendation»).

An author submitting the manuscript of their paper (work) to the Editorial Board of the journal, thereby empowers it to use the submitted materials in the composition of the journal in the following ways, but not limited to: manifestation, reproduction, online and offline distribution, as well as translation into foreign languages, including the same actions relative to the translated works (see agreement form here).

While submitting to the Siberian Philological Journal, the Authors (or group of Authors) bear the primary responsibility for the originality, authenticity, and independence of the results of scientific research, which involves the following principles:

  • The Authors should provide reliable research results.
  • The Authors should ensure that the results of the study, given in the submitted manuscript, are completely original. Borrowed fragments or statements must be accompanied by the obligatory reference to the Author and the original source. Excessive borrowing and any form of plagiarism, including non-documented citations or appropriating the other person's research results are non-ethical and unacceptable. The Editorial Board will consider borrowings without references as plagiarism and will refuse to publish the paper with such borrowings.
  • The Authors should provide only authentic facts and data; give enough information for other researchers to check and repeat the experiments by other researchers; not use information obtained privately, without the open written permission; not allow the fabrication and falsification of data.
  • The Authors should avoid duplication of publications. If some elements of the manuscript have been previously published, the Author should refer to the earlier work.
  • The Authors should not submit the manuscript to the journal, which has been sent to another journal and is under consideration, as well as the paper already published in another journal.
  • It is necessary to recognize the contributions of all persons, who somehow participated in the course of the study; in particular, the paper should contain references to the works that significantly influenced the research.
  • Authors should follow the ethical standards when criticizing or commenting the third-party research.
  • The Co-Authors of the article should include all the persons who have made a significant contribution to the study. It is not acceptable to list persons who did not take part in the research.
  • The Authors should respect the work of the Editorial Board and reviewers and to eliminate the drawbacks indicated or provide the reasoned objections.
  • The Authors should submit and prepare the manuscript according to the rules of the Journal.
  • If the Author finds significant errors or inaccuracies in the manuscript under consideration or after its publication, he must immediately inform the Editorial Board.
  • The Authors should provide the editorial board or the publisher with the proof of the validity of the original article or correct significant errors if the Editorial Board has become aware of them from a third party.

Procedure of reviewing and publishing a research paper

Once electronic registration is received, the executive secretary verifies the correspondence of the paper to ensure it meets our submission requirements. In case of correspondence not meeting the formal submission requirements, the paper is returned to the Author for further editing and improvement.

If the paper is in line with formal submission requirements, the Editorial Board will forward the paper on to the Reviewers — a qualified experts in the scientific field to which the paper belongs. They will write a review of the paper in free form, in which, among other things, they will confirm if the submitted work applies to the scope of issues discussed in the journal, the importance and topicality of the problem under discussion, theoretical and practical significance, novelty of the Author’s approach of the subject under consideration, acceptability of the scientific style and formatting.

Based on the Reviewer’s opinion, the Editorial Board makes a decision whether to accept the paper for publication, return it to the Author for improvement or to abstain from publishing it. The Author can acquaint themselves with review content in their personal profile of the journal website.

All papers are considered, reviewed and published as they are received. Please note that the decision for publication does not guarantee its publication in the very next upcoming issue of the journal.

A manuscript not recommended for publication by a reviewer will not be resubmitted.

The Editorial Board does not discuss with authors the decisions and content of manuscripts, does not enter into correspondence about the methodology of writing and formatting scientific papers, and does not bring the papers to the necessary scientific and methodological level.

The Authors can trace the status of their submitted work (electronic registration - submission - review - direction for improvement or refusal - decision for publication - publication) on the journal website.

The Editorial Board sends copies of the reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in case it receives a corresponding request.
