Name: Phraseology of the Russian language as a playing ground

Abstract: The article presents an overview of linguistic ways of playing with phrasemes in various areas of modern speech communication. Being the most traditional segment of the Russian vocabulary and playing, in essence, the role of signs of “the language” of culture, phrasemes are, nonetheless, efficiently involved in wordplay and are used as the basis for comic effects and exercises in humor. In the present paper, an attempt is made to discover the structural and semantic parameters motivating the rich wordplay potential of Russian phrasemes.
