Abstract: The paper is devoted to the problem of interpreting the patriarchal myth in the latest traditionalistic prose. Based on the works of V. Rasputin and particularly of B. Ekimov who is called «the last village prose writer» in the modern critique, the author of the paper traces how the image of the father, the master of the house and family, perceived as a small church, is transformed into the image of a leader of authori-tarian type («Kholusha’s household», «Pinochet»).

Keywords: v. rasputin, b. ekimov, traditional prose, «kholusha’s household», «pinochet», patriarch
