Abstract: Russia and Germany have had quite close cultural relations for a long time which are also represented in the Siberian region. Numerous articles, imitations and translations of German writers appear in Siberian periodicals of XIX–XX centuries. The article is devoted to the reception of works of German writers Max Nordau and Theodor Herzl in the Siberian periodicals at the turn of XIX–XX centuries. The article provides an analysis of critical essays and theatre reviews on the works of these authors. Translation strategies of Siberian authors and their motives of selecting the works for publication (in literary categories) are also considered.
