Abstract: The poem «Uolan Erilik» by the Yakut poet E.S. Sivtsev-Tallan Byure (1909–1984) takes the special place in the history of the national poetry. The author worked at the poem all his life. The work was published three times (1944, 1963, 1971), and every time the writer made essential changes to the poem text. The results of the «Uolan Erilik» poem’s plot structure analysis are presented in the article (in the last edition); the influence of the Yakut heroic epos (olonkho) is noted in the work poetics: the receptive discourse of epic idea of olonkho is observed in the composition structure and development of the plot action; the idea of main character’s struggle for freedom of the whole nation has something in common with the art concept of olonkho.
