Abstract:

The article examines key semiotic and linguocultural approaches to analyzing animated discourse as a multimodal space characterized by bicameralism, polycodality, and complex semiotic architecture. An original three-stage model of semiotically oriented analysis is proposed, integrating interpretive, componential, and descriptive methods. Using the Chinese animated series “Agents of Time” / 时光代理人 as material, it is demonstrated how this semiotically oriented approach reveals the trajectory of transmitting national and value-based meanings. The study shows how these meanings are realized through complex animated signs, formed by the interaction of codes from various modalities, and are actualized in narrative dynamics.
