Name: Reflections of the linguistic worldview in neologisms of the first third of the 20th century (words with the first part zhen-)

Abstract: The article reflects some of the results of the first year of work on compiling a dictionary of Russian neologisms from the first third of the 20th century. The boundaries of the lexicographic period (the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries — the second half of the 1930s) are justified, and the type of dictionary being planned is described: a differential historical dictionary of new words, implementing functional and text-centric approaches to words. The lexicographical sources of the project and the working dictionary are briefly described. Excerpts from the concordance and examples of dictionary entries for words beginning with the prefix zhen- are presented, reflecting significant changes in the worldview of the “new man”: changes in the position of women in society and the associated new names for persons, the formation of a new social cohort, new types of social and professional organizations, the transformation of women’s leisure activities, and much more.
