Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of the motif image of clay in artistic texts by E. Zamyatin. The research is based on two works: “The Cave” and “The Story of the most Important Thing”, considered in the context of literature about the revolution of the 1920s. The mythopoeic code of the motif the clay is revealed, and its biblical origins are revealed. The analysis reveals the deep semantic layer of the works, shows the presence of secret writing in the poetic system of E. Zamyatin. Keywords: prose about the revolution, the work of E.
