Igor Vitalievich Silantiev

Research Interests

Russian literature, general theory of literature and historical poetics, semiotics of culture, narratology, discourse analysis, teaching the Russian language.

Brief scientific biography

I. V. Silantyev in 1987 graduated from Novosibirsk State University with a degree in Russian Language and Literature. In 1995 he defended his doctoral dissertation at Moscow State University, and in 2002 at the Russian State Humanitarian University he defended his doctoral dissertation. In 1999 he received the academic title of Associate Professor, in 2005 - the academic title of Professor.

I. V. Silantyev is a specialist in the field of Russian literature and theory of literature, the author of 186 scientific works, including the author of 8 monographs and co-author of 3 monographs.

The main scientific results of I. V. Silantyev: in the field of historical poetics he conducted a study of the plot as a factor in the formation of genre in Russian literature of the XV-XVI centuries; in the field of the theory of literature he developed the theory of epic and lyrical motive and the method of complex analysis of motive in the system of artistic narration; using this method he investigated the motifs of prose by A. S. Pushkin, poetic and prose works of I. A. Bunin; in the field of studying the latest Russian literature he conducted a study of the discourse interactions of fiction and journalistic texts and developed a multi-factor typology of discourses in literature and culture; in the field of stylistics the features of the functioning of metaphors in the language of science are studied.
