Abstract: This article is dedicated to the analysis of associative fields of ten words related to the thematic group 'food' from the standpoint of composition of paradigmatic and syntagmatic reactions, which separation is the most commonly used method of the classification of associations. A quantitative advantage of syntagmatic answers over paradigmatic ones has been demonstrated. We have described frequent paradigmatic and syntagmatic associations generated by stimulus with the meaning 'food'.

Keywords: associative experiment, stimulus with the meaning 'food', associative field, syntagmatic reactions, paradigmatic reactions
