Abstract: The paper presents the results of the analysis of seven literary works by E. Kazakevich. The author’s unique approach to the problem is determined by the strategy of «artistic compromise» which, in its turn, manifests itself via experiment as the leading artistic technique, transformation of genres (short stories and short novels), choosing a unique image of an ideologically-biased character (Lubentsov), and intention to integrate the achievements of the critical and the socialist realism.

Keywords: epic, narrative, genre, author, hero, plot, composition, image, word
