Abstract: The paper presents some results of the research on the vocabulary of the early short stories by V. Nabokov. The study is based on the quantitative text analysis. Account is given of the quantitative and percentage ratios of parts of speech in the texts as well as the distribution of words according to their initial letters. Peculiarities of naming the characters in the stories and frequent lexemes are noted. Based on the above results, an inherent text analysis of the texts is performed.
