Abstract: In the paper, testaments of church hierarchs of the second half of the 17th century are analyzed, particularly those of the two last patriarchs of the pre-synodal period Joachim and Adrian and of the Voronezh bishop Mitrophan. The author of the paper determines the textual connections between the writings and reveals their literary specificity as well as the originality and character of genre alterations under the cultural and historical conditions of the «period of transition».
