Abstract: The paper discusses linguistic models of social reality in Russian. Russian may be said to contain three models of social reality: 1) model, representing social realities as ideal entities, actualized in real life; this model is realized in a system of distinct denominations of social objects, 2) metaphorical model, representing obscure social objects as understandable objects of other se-mantic domains and 3) model, assigning ideological evaluations and other social connotations to social objects.

Keywords: social semantics, denomination, metaphor, connotation, social status
