Abstract: The interpretation of statistical data of bibliometric analysis using the tools of the transdisciplinary cyclic-wave methodology is applied to study the regional processes of Russian Siberian folklore studies development for creating new methodological approaches to the periodiza-tion of folklore study history. The proposed approach allows assessing the influence of socio-political events on the development of science in the region and identifying the immanent patterns of development of Siberian folklore studies by using mathematical and statistical methods of data analysis related to the bibliographic activity of Siberian scientists. Two thousand seventy-five bibliographic descriptions for a chronological period from 1800 to 1995 formed the analytical base of the study. All the sources were systematized chronologically according to the year of pub-lication. Using mathematical and statistical methods allowed compiling a summary table showing the statistical data on the number of sources since 1826 when the first Siberian material was published. Graphs referred to as “cyclograms” have been constructed based on the statistical data obtained. The analysis of cyclograms made it possible to discover the regularities and logic of the development of science and to divide its history into periods, i.e., to accomplish its periodization. Four major periods have been identified: two pre-revolutionary (1826–1878 – 53 years and 1879–1918 – 40 years) and two Soviet ones (1919–1950 – 32 years and 1951–1990 – 40 years). The thresholds of periodization were chosen sharp, turning points in the development of science, determined by the author based on the study of publication activity cyclograms.
