Abstract: In the folklore texts of Tuvan there has been found a group of series of bipredicative constructions (BPC) that express modus-dictum relations. The article presents a structural and semantic analysis of these constructions and their distinctive characteristics. It is noted that the structure of Tuvan polipredicative system for expressing modus-dictum relations suggests the usage of monofinite BPC (with the infinite predicate of the dependent predicative unit) and bifinite BPC (with the finite predicate in both predicative units and the analytical indicator of the relation between them – the linking unit dep). The article considers various grammaticalized forms of verbal stem de=/di= ‘talk’. The group of modus predicates used in the main predicative unit and the semantic meanings of BPC expressed by them are established.

Keywords: bipredicative construction, modus-dictum relations, tuvan, grammaticalized forms
