Abstract: The paper analyzes the idiostyle peculiarities of the public language personality of the well-known journalist and writer M. I. Veller. These peculiarities manifest themselves in different ways subject to different genres: blog, interview, talk, responses to radio listeners’ questions. The research is done in the trend of the communicative stylistics of a text where the idiostyle is interpreted as a complex of diversified manifestations of the language personality’s specificity in the structure, semantics and pragmatics of his texts. The paper reveals the factors determining the variability of the public language personality’s communicative behaviour including the peculiarities of the selection and organization of language means. The author’s individual singularity of a journalist and a writer’s speech is considered in connection with a glance to the genres speci-ficity of his media texts. A genre is shown as a discursive variable characteristic and one of the most important objective extralinguistic factors of text formation, which defines the idiostyle variability of the public language personality.

Keywords: public language personality, idiostyle, media text, discursive variable characteristics, factors of text formation, speech genre
