Abstract: The paper is dedicated to the understanding of the grammaticality degree of the aspect and tense categories of the Vietnamese verb, to the analysis of the methods of expressing particular aspectual Russian verb meanings in the Vietnamese language. The object of the research is the semantics of the Russian aspect forms and the specifics of realizing it a language with a different typological structure. The work’s objective is to give a systematic description of grammatical and contextual markers of aspectual semantics in the Russian and Vietnamese languages. Used as material for the study are contexts from literary texts, translated from Russian into Vietnamese (approximately 500 examples). The analysis results show the presence of a significant number of cross-linguistic correspondences in expressing aspectual meanings, which guarantees an adequate reflection of semantic nuances of the aspect and the tense categories in translating from one language into another.
