Brief scientific biography

Aleksandr Evgenievich was born on December 10, 1952 in Novosibirsk. In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of Humanities of Novosibirsk State University. He worked at universities in Novosibirsk and Tyumen. From 1979 to 1982 he completed a postgraduate course at the Institute of the Russian Language of the USSR Academy of Sciences (scientific adviser O.N. Trubachev, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences). In 1984, at the same institute, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: «The experience of the semantic analysis of homonyms on the Proto-Slavic background». From 1985 to 1990 A. Anikin worked at the Institute of History, Philology and Philosophy of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk), was the editor of the volumes in the series «Monuments of Folklore of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East».

In 1990, he entered the doctoral program at the Institute of the Russian Language, after which he became the head of the Group (since 1997 — Sector) of the Russian Language at the Institute of Philology, SB RAS. In 2000 Aleksandr Evgenievich defended his doctoral thesis in the form of a scientific report on the topic: «Problems of Russian dialect etymological lexicography» in the dissertation council of the A.M. Gorky Ural State University (Yekaterinburg). On May 22, 2003, he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Historical and Philological Sciences, RAS.

Alexander Evgenievich is also a literary critic, a well-known researcher of the work of I. F. Annensky and A. A. Akhmatova. In 1992, he participated in the work of the international seminar on I. F. Annensky in Paris, and in 2005 he made a presentation at the International Anniversary Annensky Readings in Moscow.

A. E. Anikin performs the duties of the head of the Russian language sector of the Institute of Philology of the SB RAS, he is a member of the bureau of the Joint Academic Council for the Humanities of the SB RAS (Novosibirsk); head of the humanitarian section of the Scientific Publishing Council of the SB RAS (Novosibirsk); member of the Dissertation Council at the Institute of Philology SB RAS (Novosibirsk); member of the editorial board of the Siberian Philological Journal (Novosibirsk); member of the main editorial board of the series «Monuments of Folklore of the Peoples of Siberia and the Far East» (Novosibirsk).

In 2015, Alexander Evgenievich Anikin was awarded the V.I. Dal gold medal for a series of scientific papers in the field of etymological lexicography of the Russian language.

October 28, 2016 at the General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.E. Anikin was elected a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the Department of Historical and Philological Sciences (Philology).
