Abstract: The paper deals with the comparative analysis of the lexical units forming the grammatical class of the verb in the Russian and Orok languages and specified as the units having a general grammatical meaning of the action realized in time and which occupy the functional position of the predicate in the structure of a predicative construction (a simple sentence). Along with the comparability of the main verb categories, i.e. mood, tense, conjugation, modality, the lan-guages under comparison show a number of structural peculiarities of the Orok verb determined by the semantic char-acteristics of the Orok verb stem. The difference of the semantic structure of a non-derived verb stem from the seman-tic verb structure in the languages having a clearly expressed category of aspect lies in its more complex organization: a “pure” non-derived stem realizes an aspectual correlation, i.e. is of a dual aspectual character.
