Abstract: The paper discusses the theoretical issues related to the study of literatures of peoples with recent (the first or new) systems of writing, actually in the context of investigating the literatures of thinly populated Siberian nations. A detailed historiography of the problem is presented both in the linguistic and literary aspect. Also, the issue of the origin of these literatures is considered from the viewpoint of historical poetics. The authors suggest a basis for distinguishing the newly created written national literatures.

Keywords: newly written language, newly written literature, national literature, literature of siberian nations
