Abstract: The paper considers Pushkin’s unfinished poem “A motionless guard was dozing on the royal threshold” as one of the borderline works of the poet in forming the legend of Napoleon. Pushkin was one of the first to introduce the ballad colour into the structure of Napoleon’s image.
