Abstract: This paper examines the plot structure of the L. A. Mey's drama «Pskovityanka». The hypoth-esis of a special semantic significance of the duality motif in the work puts forward. The functions and role of art topics, basic motivic complexes (separation / meeting, loyalty / disloyalty, will / bondage, sin, deception, curse, violations of the vow, etc.) define in the deployment of the plot. The importance of folklore beginning in the drama and focus on the author's poetic suggestibility in the figurative stylistic level are emphasized.
