Abstract: In the present article the logical and semiotic characteristics of Dadaism are analyzed, first of all its aggressive «struggle» in the literary field. Expressionism takes on the role of the «leading» enemy of Dadaism in Germany. Dadaists criticized it on the emotional, rather than on the rational level, which deprived their criticism of any constructive character. Particular attention is drawn to the analysis of the problem of self-identification in Dadaism, its comprehension / non-comprehension through the concepts of «part» and «whole». In order to understand Dadaism, it is extremely important to study its «beginning », motivation, and the formation of its startling «ism». Possible logical mistakes (particularly, generalization) in analyzing Dadaism outside of the historical context are shown based on examples drawn from Peter Sloterdijks\ works.
