Name: Cryptotype. Semiotic approaches to subtle grammar

Abstract: This article provides an analysis of cryptotypes, that is hidden,subtle, elusive senses, which are not expressed with single words but which could be singled out in linguistic analysis. In the article two types of cryptotypes are defined, which are named by the authors of the article as a cryptotype of B.Whorf and a cryptotype of M.Swadesh, that is after the surenames of the reserchers, who stood on the way of their discovery. In accordance with us, the cryptotype of Whorf is an indexical cryptotype of unity with space and time, when a person feels at one with them. It is introduced with a choice of the initial sound (ð in English, d – in German). The cryptotype of Swadesh is introduced with an opposition of syllables having front and back vowels. This is an iconic cryptotype of binary form such as “near-far”, “in –out”,“inner –outer” etc. The given cryptotypes are analysed in German.
