This volume of the series encloses the best samples of myths and legends that reflect the traditional outlook, art attitude, and historical and cultural heritage of aboriginals of Mountain Altai. Numerous variations of available texts that had been written down at different time and in various areas are demonstration that steady narrative traditions existed and they featured history-typological correlations. The volume includes the scientific machine and photo illustrations. Introductory article is devoted to genre features, to the history of collecting and study of non-folktale prose of Altai people. The compact disc that is supplied with the volume gives live sound of these works. Comments with the texts supply the requisite philological and ethnographic interpretation.
The book is aimed for folklore specialists, literary critics, ethnographers and for all those who is interested in traditional culture of different ethnoses.
